Local Priorities Anti-social behaviour – general Message

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Anti-social behaviour – general, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

There have been several reports made to the team recently regarding anti social behaviour within the town and this week we have been working hard to try to address these concerns.

The team have been regularly patrolling the area, focusing especially on the areas around the church and Kempson Players Park where we have had reports of graffiti and riding of motorbikes and electric bikes at speed.
In dealing with these issues, we have worked in conjunction with our ASB team as well as other agencies from the local council to deal with those involved and find ways to reduce instances in the future.
This will be an ongoing project for us and i want to encourage everyone to continue to report any issues so that we can use this information to target our patrols and gather evidence.

This action this week has led to 3 offenders being dealt with by us directly and then several others being disrupted had stopped from being part of further ASB. It has also led to several crimes being recorded and through continued contact with the local groups we have a plan in place to reduce further issues which hopefully you will see the results of in the near future, with a reduction in ASB.

Tackling antisocial behaviour can be a complex issue, and one which requires input and action from more than just the police.

The Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 aims to put victims first, giving power to local people and enabling professionals to find the best solutions for their local area.

The act provides the police, local authorities and other local agencies with flexible tools and powers that they can use to respond quickly and effectively to antisocial behaviour.

These include:

  • civil injunctions.
  • criminal behaviour orders.
  • public spaces protection orders.
  • community protection notices.
  • dispersal powers.
  • closure powers.

The act also includes measures such as the Community Remedy and antisocial behaviour case reviews which empower victims and communities to have a say in the outcome of their reports and hold agencies to account.

If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at https://www.westmercia.police.uk, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101.

Alternatively, you can stay 100 per cent anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org
